It’s a Small Leather Goods World

The retail/fashion industry runs in small circles.   Four years ago, I made chocolate chip cookies for a new neighbor who had moved in across the street.  When I went to deliver them, it turns out I had worked with the mom of the family back during my Ann Taylor days in NYC.  At the Boston Design Center, one of the showroom managers happens to be best friends with a former executive that I had worked with both at Laura Ashley & Stride Rite.  And, several pieces of leather and travel goods that I own, as it just so happens, were produced by Michael Korchmar’s, leather manufacturing company, Korchmar.

I had the opportunity to interview Michael — a third-generation owner of his family’s company, established in 1917.  Please come learn more about him and check out my 10-question interview, over on Korchmar Expanded.

I rarely blog about Men’s fashion here, but fell in love with Korchmar’s Grant alligator pouch, after I was reading that one of Details magazine’s Top 7 Trends for Spring 2014 is “chic leather bags.”
