I made the list!
Three years ago, with some skepticism, I dove into the blogosphere and started writing about my fashion and design-related inspiration. I took Holly Becker‘s Blogging Your Way e-course, consulted with Design Mom‘s Gabrielle Blair about whether or not to include the names of my kids (the Everything in 3’s name — though mainly chosen to find a niche amongst the thousands of design blogs out there, and hone in on “threes” concepts in design, i.e. Rule of Thirds, — was derived from the fact that my life revolves around threes — of my four kids, 3 are triplets, all girls), AND heavily researched the ethics of copyright, permissions and image use on my own and with Grace Bonney of Design Sponge.
One friend had commented that she wouldn’t want to put herself “out there” for everyone to critique. I admit that with each time I hit “Publish” I become self-conscious of the material I’ve posted — is it relevant, fresh or original content? Is it grammatically correct? Another friend advised, that if she could learn something from a blog, she’d be sure to go back and continue visiting. Hmmm…
It’s a huge honor to be recognized by Linda. A veteran blogger, Linda writes a nationally regarded design blog called ::Surroundings:: and is the host of the design podcast series The Skirted Roundtable. She is also an award-winning residential interior decorator based in Massachusetts.
Over on Designer Marketplace, Linda asks, “Do you have a favorite New England Design blog?” I do. A couple are listed over on my blogroll in the side bar. I love Sarah Winchester’s photography blog and another blog I discovered a year or so ago, Design Marchand, authored by Kirsten Marchand. Kirsten’s “picks” are artfully designed and original. With my fashion background, I love to report on trends…color trends, especially, so I thoroughly enjoy Kirsten’s posts like this recent one on purple.
It’s so interesting to see what grabs another person’s eye — my take on purple is here (and below, from May 2012), and collaboratively (as we all turn to Pinterest for) is endless inspiration.
Kirsten Marchand’s home was also featured on Design Sponge‘s Sneak Peeks, here.
You can read about some of my other favorite New England blogs in the Comments section here.
Thank you again, Linda! You made my year!
