Nadine Westcott Fabric Design

Last year, I had the opportunity to visit Nadine Westcott’s design studio out on Nantucket Island.  Nadine Bernard Westcott is most known as illustrator and author of award-winning children’s books — The Lady with the Alligator Purse, Miss Mary Mack, and I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, to name a few.  However, she has transferred her whimsical style to sophisticated fabric designs.


Her light-filled studio has walls and tables piled with illustrations, swatches, original artwork, paintings and tear sheets.  Every where your eye travels, something catches your breath, and beyond what you see, each fabric pattern has a story of what inspired the design behind it.
