Mixing Patterns

In the home, mixing patterns and juxtaposing styles in a bold way, adds that extra wow factor.  Cortney and Robert Novogratz are masters of thinking out of the box and never cease to amaze me with their unparalleled designs.  In one of their projects — a kid’s bedroom in a Brooklyn brownstone —  the Novogratzes took a wallpaper with a classic bird pattern in different colors and hung them vertically in a striped pattern (above).  If that wasn’t clever enough, check out the entire room (below).  The extra punch — mixing the checkered flooring and juxtaposing a bright pink ceiling.  The three elements transform the traditional setting into a fun and modern space.
