Our Kitchen Progress

Early in February, I had mentioned that we were about to begin our kitchen face-lift and discussed some of the details and finishes that we were considering.  Overall my husband and I had the same vision, but went back-and-forth on some of the details, and, as always, encountered unexpected changes, which are par for any project.

Here’s the same wall with new wainscoting and Schumacher wallpaper all wired up for a flat-screen television.

Before:

We are mixing different elements and finishes — melding a clean and modern look with a bit of farmhouse rustic.

We started to get some of the new lighting up, and love the color and detail of the textured wallpaper.  It has that grasscloth/fabric look, yet is vinyl (!) and so practical for a kitchen.

The Schumacher wallpaper is a great alternative to grasscloth and in addition to being wipe-able, the seam lines — a characteristic of natural woven wallcoverings — aren’t visible.

It’s exciting to see a design plan near completion!  We are almost there.
