Fashion: Pre-Fall 2012 Trends

Pre-Fall 2012 fashion is oozing with exciting trends.  Besides the usual suspects — like jewel tones (color), menswear inspired (plaids, tweeds, herringbone), equestrian style, and lots of coats (fur, fur, fur) — there are some great “new” influences, such as New York Street style (think Woody Allen movies and Jackie O.), lots of color-blocking (continuing from Spring), and refined accessories (elbow-length leather gloves and spectator shoes).  It’ll be exciting to watch the Fall 2012 trends unfold, but for now, here are 3 trends I saw.

1.  Color – Red and Teal.  As I had mentioned, there were lots of jewel tones on pre-Fall runways — jade green, purple and Color-of-the-Year Tangerine Tango (no surprise), but the strongest colors for Pre-Fall are red and teal.

2.  Graphic prints.  Ahh, the chevron continues on, along with checks and honeycomb patterns.

3.  The Unexpected.  I’d love to sport one of these looks here in suburbia, just for the head-turn factor.  These influences from comic strips, an LSD spider and street graffiti are great editorial pieces and will be interesting to see how far they translate to Fall 2012.
