NYFW: Spring 2012 Recap

New York Fashion Week is only halfway through (Sept 8-15), but already, Spring 2012 trends are apparent and include silhouettes with drape, mixing prints, color blocking, sheers and embellishments.  So far, my likes and dislikes are recapped below (in what else, but groupings of threes).

My 3 overall favorite looks:

Jenny Packham, Victoria by Victoria Beckham, Tory Burch

It’s hard to ignore Jenny Packham, whose number one client is Kate Middleton.  This embellished dress (left) is just stunning.  The Victoria by Victoria Beckham color blocked dress is bold in color.  I love the silhouette along with the scalloping detail.  And Tory Burch, WOW! is all I have to say.  I think every look in her Spring 2012 collection is fantastic, but I love this ruffled skirt with wavy stripes paired with the multi-printed/color-blocked blouse.

More from Tory Burch, including a drop-waist dress — another emerging trend:

Floral prints were the main focus of Diane Von Furstenberg‘s Spring line:

J.Crew winners:

J.Crew losers:

J.Crew Spring 2012

Don’t get me wrong.  I love these pieces on their own (who doesn’t love a J.Crew stripe?), however, I think their attempt to be on trend and mix patterns looks cool in print, but would you wear these outfits?

Vera Wang‘s fearlessness with draping skirts and structured tops – definitely a departure from the simple, elegant looks of her bridal line:

Really?  Is this Ready-to-Wear?  I think these are Vera’s misses:
