In December 2000, I had my first child. A decade later, we now have four kids, three of which are triplets – three girls, 3 years old. Miracles and milestones – I still pinch myself. I spent three months on bed rest prior to the girls’ birth, and needless to say, haven’t had much “me” time until recently. My “me” time brought me back to Cecilia Walker Design – launched in 2006, but put on hold with the arrival of the triplets.
I spent my childhood surrounded by fabric and wallpaper books and loved tagging along with my interior designer Mom on trips to the L.A. Mart, Merchandise Mart and Washington Design Center. Most of my earliest drawings and scribbles were done with Schumacher pencils and by the age of seven, I knew the difference between Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture. Little did I know then, how much my mom’s creativity would influence me. I graduated with a B.A. in Art History and Economics, and went onto the world of fashion – my other passion! After twelve years in the fashion industry – working in merchandising, planning, product development and production – I decided to take my mom’s advice and tackle interior design. While projects have varied — from single room designs, to small renovations, to a complete house renovation — my vision is the same: clean lines, calm interiors grounded with classic pieces, natural elements and a juxtaposition of rustic and modern.
Recent collaboration with two of my ever-so stylish, designer friends brought me here (+me=3). With the Rule of Three as a principle in design, and my constant thinking in “threes”, add 3 styles to the mix – home style, lifestyle, personal style – and we’ve got “everything in 3’s”.
